Amateur tennis highlights from a NTRP 5.0 / UTR 10!
Reading, MA City Open $$ - Highlights of 2 Rounds
Highlights of the semi-finals and finals of the Reading Tennis Open - www.readingtennisopen.com/
Conditions were on the hot and humid side. Full-Ad scoring format with a full 3rd set. My semi-final opponent defeated me in the finals of this tournament in 2022. I also have a video of a practice set we played 3 years prior ua-cam.com/video/hxINko0QigQ/v-deo.html
My camera randomly stopped recording mid tie-break 2nd set of first match. Then, it ran out of battery mid finals.

It's Pickleball Players World, Us Tennis Players are Just Living in it! (UTR League match)

Some shenanigans I experiences while playing in a UTR Flex League match (not just a match for fun/practice). These 2 tennis courts have 4 Pickleball courts painted onto them. They're very popular for Pickleball. There are doors to enter the courts. One on the left, one on the right, and one in the near court (all from the POV of the camera). I make a point to NOT play here because of the Pickle...

UTR 9 vs UTR 13 - How many Games can I Get??? (UTR $$$ Tournament)
Переглядів 15 тис.2 роки тому
This was a UTR $$$ tournament in the summer of 2022. My opponent is a UTR 13 which is the highest I've ever faced in real competition. He's a very unassuming player. I wasn't blown off the court, but I was thoroughly beaten. He made pretty much 0 unforced errors and made passing shots from all kinds of positions. I played quite poorly on this day, but it's hard to determine how much of this los...

Yes, you CAN improve your game! Don't get discouraged. Stay positive! The results will come

I care a lot about tennis... sometimes I care too much. This can put a lot of pressure on myself to get results in a short amount of time, but results don't come overnight - it takes time. Don't get discouraged by a bad loss. Don't allow yourself to be convinced you've peaked. Keep fighting. Keep playing. Love the grind.

This was the first time playing against one another. It's part of a group that plays singles once per week with a number of guys that rotate in and out. It performs MUCH better than my GoPro does with the indoor lighting. Future vide...

how does this vid have like no views?
What’s the link to ur utr page?
17:06, that 9-9 tie break point was the most careful point I've ever seen.
These 2 look alot strong than your typical 4.5s. Sandbaggers?
@@bojack3827 it's nationals. everyone's a sandbagger
You sure that is only 4.5...?😂
No, I don't believe this is 4.5...
@@yys5919 You clearly haven't seen 5.0 nationals, LOL
Excellent play all around! Both guys really know how to play the game at a very high level. I'd be curious to know where they both played in college
Yo is that Dmaff in the purple? He spits a crazy rap verse ua-cam.com/video/oEtX50DlkOg/v-deo.htmlsi=1fa1GKJEn2y0WH9Q
Yo is that Dmaff in the purple? I just found an insane rap verse from him ua-cam.com/video/oEtX50DlkOg/v-deo.htmlsi=1fa1GKJEn2y0WH9Q
Nice hitting. Why did you switch away from the pure drive? And which version of the blade is that (16x19 vs 18x20)?
@@NervousBr good eye. Blade 16x19. I will always love the pure drive (used various versions for 15 years) but it lacked maneuverability and was prone to spraying more errors. The Blade is more control oriented. I lost 5MPH on my serve but I think the accuracy I gained is worth it. I also switched from RPM blast 17g to Wilson Revolve 16g. I basically did a complete 180 from all power to all control. My strokes already have plenty of natural power. I don't need more from the racquet
Amazing tennis from all players.
@@gihan84 much appreciated
Great Tennis on both sides! You just earned yourself another SUBSCRIBER! Keep up the grind with tennis and UA-cam and I can't wait to see more videos 😊
Thanks my dude. High praise coming from another youtuber.
oh man i love that fh slice
In watching this back - he won almost every point where he FH slice approached. It was shockingly effective against me.
nice to know nadal plays right handed with a ohbo in his free time
Solid Tennis match!
You could throw the lob a bit more when you're in a defensive position and you didn't take advantage of some short balls the semis guy gave you but other that that your tennis looks awesome. Nice job!
Good playing!! Curious, what is that string you are using??
Purple shirt has nice 1hbh
Great vids, nice playing!! Believe it or not, it was my friend and I in conjunction w Lorraine Salter who started that tournament back in 1991!! My friend was the founder of Reading Recreation Tennis back then and He and I were the original Pro’s and developers of the Reading Open!! So glad to see it going so strong for the past 33 yrs, that’s crazy.
I also know the winner of the tourney, Connor, he had a great college career at Bentley and is a super good kid.
@@10scoach33 wow 😧. Love the history. This tournament is always my favorite of the year.
This is some solid tennis man. Well played 🔥
First match was a nail biter my goodness. High intensity throughout, well done! Your forehand really wore him down! I doubt playing a 3 set marathon did you any favors against the finalist. He was popping winners from every position lol. Your serve has improved allot and you seem to be moving very well! Have you been focusing on those areas over the past few months? Great vid, keep grinding!
@@EdgeriPlaysTennis I was in good shape at the time of this tournament, both mentally and physically. The serve is always a big point of emphasis when practicing
The first guy in the brown shorts is 5.5
His forehand is not 5.5
Great consistency and skills, but would get blown off the court at that level.
Francisco Bastias (Utah)
Wow. Imagine if this 13UTR player stops being lazy and actully bends his legs?
When I was about 60 yo and a high 6 UTR, it showed as a 7 then, I played a 12 UTR in a tournament and won a couple games. That day my shoulder was totally loose and with nothing to lose my serve was topping out about 105 to 110 and I was aiming at corners. He was trying to hit aggressive returns so I managed to hold serve a couple times. I had game point in another and hit a hard flat second serve but didn’t guts enough to go for a corner on second serve. He returned it and I lost the point and the game. Back in the day I’d take a few games off guys between 400 and 1000 if they were serve and volleyers or all court players, but a baseliner would bagel me.
There's good wisdom here that all of us can and should relate to in our own tennis journey.
Black shorts was clearly trolling white shorts. Dude can play.
hes unassuming because he wasnt going hard. Doesnt mean he wasnt trying he was just playing very passive instead of aggressive like he would someone his own level. This kid can probably crank when he wants but this match he just pushed and let you dictate the pace.
What teams did you play?
Hawaii, Texas, & No. Cal I linked to USTA Nationals results in the description tennislink.usta.com/Leagues/Main/StatsAndStandings.aspx?SearchType=0#&&s=c31iUr7M3rpuXfThxiihUlr-M2lEQJcw15rLH1Xu-eE1
Those are NOT 4.5 players! Fing sandbaggers.
Just imagine how good our #1 singles guy was 😉
@@skeet0rz thats hillarious! Love the honesty. Really solid players
They look 4.5 to me.
Nice 5.0 tennis. USTA ratings and their league "nationals" are such a joke.
Anyone trying to get to nationals has to game the system at least a little bit. There was a guy at 3.5 nationals that the most games he gave up all year was 5, lol, most matches were 1, 0 type stuff..but he was "computer rated" from like 3 matches the previous season, so he couldn't get DQ'd. Clear 4.5/5.0 player(as good if not better than these guys) playing 3.5. It's a poor system, I could go on. That said, nationals was still really fun and great competition. So yeah, these guys are probably 5.0 players, but they aren't doing anything anyone else isn't. Fun matches to watch, thanks for posting. Really solid play. Lucky to play when it wasn't too hot!
I mean, by definition if you give an imprecise rating to thousands of people, then select the top few percent, those will be the ones who are misrated, whether out of malice or happenstance.
No way these guys 4.5. They are freaking solid all around i say 5.5 easy
It's easy to look good in highlights. Granted, I was also officially rated 5.0 the past 5 years. This was my first year being booted back down.
Are these guys former college players?
They are true 4.5/5.0 players. Although, there was a little 4.0 play in there as well. If someone rates you 4.5 and you are not hitting the ball as well as these guys, then the rating isn’t true.
@@chuckfriebe843 that wasn’t my question. Are these guys former college level players?
Hey. I was on the Hawaii team that played you guys. Nice to see you posting vids of nationals.
I set up my camera to grab footage of your #2 singles but the umpire kicked me off the court before I could properly frame it up so it came out crappy. I was bummed because it ended up being a good match
First guy was either “in the zone” treeing, or he’s a 5.0 lol. Tough opponent. Nice win on the second match could hav been tricky after being up match point and having that ball fall on the line, great honesty call tho, I applaud that, way to gut out the finish
Once you make it to nationals, many (most) of the singles players are borderline 5.0s.
@@skeet0rz yes they are, just about all players on the team could make that claim, I never made nationals but lost in the final match of sectionals to go to Natty’s……such great tennis at that level
I applaud your honesty on that 8-9 point...on balls that are 99% out, "good" when playing with friends; but usually "out" in USTA league
I applaud him for the honest also but everyone in the crowd thought this ball was in also. But kudos for correcting yourself.
I play 4.5 club with a friend and if my ball is anywhere close to the line, he’ll call it out. I’ve seen him call balls that were 4 or 6 inches inside the line, out. Pisses me off to no end.
@@LegolasD true, but if you've played league you know some players would call that out anyway 😐. Part of the reason I stopped playing.
The wind was consistently blowing from the far BH corner to the near BH corner all match - the exact opposite direction of his shot. With no wind, that ball was 5 feet out, minimum! Also, the ball was squarely on the line. It wasn't even that close.
@@DNAdad925 for some people, anything to win a match. Unfortunate. Totally frustrating.
Oh, so you are the reason I can’t get a court today! 😂 JK. You have more matches this weekend? I live across the road and usually catch some of most Nationals. Cheers.
Good match. That first guy must have played d3 possibly d1 doubles. Very comfortable at net, fh has some spacing issues though. I think your fh is better than his, but you sliced alot on the bh even when he gave you some weak shots. I have this issue to where I slice the backhand too much. Thanks for uploading
Nice match aren't these played in November usually?
@@LegolasD not sure. This was my first time at nationals
Similar shit got me into a car accident. These idiots don’t know how to drive also the best part is if that truck hit the idiot that law would screw out the guy in the truck and the idiot driving the car would be protected by the law 😂😂😂
This is a 3.5 NTRP or 4-6 UTR verses a 4.0 or 6-8 UTR. A UTR 13 is a low 5.5 NTRP. NO WAY!!!
Look him up dude is legit utr 13 he played for utah
Rte. 3...speed trap central
For those saying Francisco isn't a UTR 13, I understand his strokes are not flashy or sexy looking, but tennis is not a figure skating contest. He's able to get the ball in play consistently and place the ball really well. He also has very good speed too.
Amen brother
@@skeet0rz Good luck in your next matches, keep at it, you'll get in the double digit UTR soon
😂u let some random people take away your "usuall" tennis courts for ur league match?? And u choose to play league matches at a pickleball court? What logic is that.
I like how everyone walking between the courts hugs the doubles alley on the tennis side
His UTR is now 11,97 for those wondering
Wow. Scumbag pickleball players.
I mean I get it but you guys aren’t playing anywhere close to professional level tennis or a serious tournament match. Relax a little lmaoo. Some of the instances you could have easily kept playing. Just get the stick out of your ass a tiny tiny bit, it’s really not that serious
It’s crazy how many people don’t know that u should not go anywhere near the court when play is going on, it’s that simple
I guess because pickleball is such a young sport there aren't established etiquette rules for players. When people first start tennis they do the same, but it is quickly taught that that's not ok.
99% of problems between pickle ball players and tennis players would be solved if pickle ball players would simply respect tennis players who are in the middle of a point.
In the good ole' days we just blasted ball at people like this.
I still live in the good ole' days I guess. This was so frustrating to watch.
